As the first hires for the state-of-the-art Clarence Correctional Centre in Grafton, you’ll get the opportunity to use your skills and experience in assisting with the pre-operational activities as we expand our workforce ready for commencing operations in July 2020.

The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open in mid-2020 with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. Serco Australia has a 20 year contract to operate and maintain the centre, creating the opportunity for long-term, rewarding and secure employment with exciting career prospects in one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal and country locations.
You are experienced in a correctional environment, or are motivated and willing to learn to take on the opportunity to assist with various ramp up activities to support commencing operations. You will be a team player with strong communication skills, be respectful and have a commitment and passion for the on-going rehabilitation of the people in our care.
About the opportunity
As a Correctional Case Officer, you will participate in the delivery of specialist services to enhance the security of the Clarence Correctional Centre. You will be responsible for maintaining strict control of all issued security equipment and ensure conduct is highly professional and in accordance with Serco’s Values, Code of Conduct, Policies, Procedures and relevant Legislation.
You will play an integral role in promoting rehabilitation and reintegration, ensuring the safety and security in the centre and the community, and provide a safe and respectful environment to everyone in the centre.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have similar experience within a correctional /custodial environment
- Ideally hold your Certificate III Correctional Practice (CSC30115) or;
- Be willing to obtain your Certificate III Correctional Practice (CSC30115)
- Undertake Comprehensive Induction Training (approximately 10-12 weeks)
- Demonstrate a commitment to Serco’s values and the rehabilitation process
- Demonstrate a competent level of computer literacy and report writing
- Possess proficient interpersonal and communication skills
- Maintain a high level of integrity
